There’s a certain tone most money advice takes – brisk, confident, slightly impatient. It tells you how to budget, how to invest, how to earn more. But it rarely stops to ask how money actually feels. What it brings up in your body. What it costs you emotionally to constantly be managing, calculating, striving. Or what it means to try to build security in a world where the goalposts keep shifting.
That’s the gap I kept noticing. So I decided to start writing into it.
I’ve launched a Substack where I explore money in a more thoughtful, more human way. Less how-to, more what’s-really-going-on-here. Less optimisation, more reflection. It’s for anyone who’s felt overwhelmed, ashamed, or just tired of the way money is usually talked about. And it’s for people who want to feel a little less alone in the uncertainty of figuring it out.
This isn’t a newsletter in the traditional sense. It’s more like an ongoing conversation – part journal, part dispatch, part practical guide. Some weeks I’ll go deep on something I’m thinking about: how ambition gets shaped by class, why “financial freedom” can feel hollow, or what happens when we stop trying to fix ourselves through money. Other times, I’ll share small, steadying tools – ways to make decisions with more clarity, calm, and care.
My aim is to make space for the side of money that isn’t often acknowledged: the emotional weight, the cultural pressure, the messy reality behind the numbers. Because money isn’t just financial. It’s relational. Psychological. Deeply personal. And the more honestly we can talk about it, the better choices we can make – not just for our bank accounts, but for our lives.
If that sounds like something you’ve been craving, you can join me here or, for an archive of all my posts, go here.
You can also subscribe to receive each one automatically via email. It’s free, thoughtful, and low-pressure. I won’t flood your inbox – promise! Just the occasional letter, designed to leave you feeling clearer and more grounded than when you opened it.
Let’s get it.
